Electrical Safety Council launches guide for landlords

The Electrical Safety Council (ESC) has launched a new guide to
help landlords to meet their legal obligations and keep their
electrical systems in good order.
According to 24dash.com, the publication - entitled Landlords'
Guide to Electrical Safety – also contains practical advice
and information regarding the frequency with which checks should be
carried out on household installations.
Phil Buckle, director general of the ESC, explained that the
organisation receives many queries from landlords regarding
electrical safety in rented properties and said the advice
contained in the guide is straightforward and comprehensive.
"We hope that this will help to answer their questions, clear up
any confusion and ultimately improve electrical safety in the
privately rented sector," he added.
The guide explains legislation such as the Landlords and Tenants
Act 1985 and the Housing Act 2004.
Landlords can keep problems to a minimum by ensuring that
appliances are checked before tenants move into a property and
ensure that installations are maintained throughout the tenancy,
according to the ESC.
